Wavelink Updates Multi-vendor Wireless Management Solution

Latest version of Avalanche Mobility Center adds advanced user management, network traffic management control, simplified WLAN configuration and extended reporting.

Midvale, UT - June 4, 2007 - Wavelink Corporation, a developer of multi-vendor mobile application and infrastructure management software for the enterprise, has debuted the upgrade to its Avalanche Mobility Center, adding advanced user management, network traffic management control, simplified WLAN configuration and extended reporting.

Avalanche MC is a management solution for the wireless enterprise, intended to provide visibility and control of wireless infrastructure and mobile devices from a central console. Version 4.2 of Avalanche MC aims to provide customers with maximized performance, flexibility and control for their wireless networks and mobile devices, Wavelink said.

The solution can help ease the configuration, deployment and management of wireless networks while offering flexibility through the support of a range of mobile devices and infrastructure, including major brands of handheld mobile computers, wireless infrastructure devices, and peripheral items, such as printers, RFID and barcode scanners.

Key new features in the new version include granular user management, providing support of user groups by increasing the functionality of regional permissions, authorized users and profiles and global profile permissions. Bandwidth/network traffic management features allow enterprises to control how and when the network bandwidth is used, helping to assure maximum performance and system efficiency.

Additional firmware support lets users benefit from extended infrastructure firmware support for Motorola/Symbol, Cisco and Proxim. In addition, through the use of infrastructure composite profiles, Avalanche MC network integrates the configuration of wireless settings for a number of access points and switches, and the network profiles configure VLANs directly.

Also, extended reporting capabilities include revised existing reports, provide new graphical summary data and add six new reports covering topics such as hardware and software inventory, system and battery performance, radio statistics and software status.

"With the proliferation of wireless devices and the expansion of wireless networks, our customers demand the highest level of control and flexibility in their wireless environments," said Lamar VanWagenen, president and chief operating officer of Wavelink Corporation. "Avalanche MC enables customers to ensure security and compliance across the wireless infrastructure while providing the broadest support in the industry for device manufacturers."

The new cost of the Avalanche Mobile Center Enterprise Package is $3,000.
