WWAN Device Management with Avalanche: Introducing Device Location Mapping

With the imminent release of Avalanche 5, look for Device Location Mapping!  With the Device Location Mapping feature, your customers will gain an accurate view of both where and how their assets are being used. This feature provides detailed information regarding the location of mobile devices under management that have GPS or cellular capabilities.. Lost or stolen device? In the case of a lost or stolen device, Device Location Mapping can track that device down to the street level.

A Web-based map zooms into the street level so that not only are you able to track the location of devices, but also gain important information like the latitude, longitude, heading and speed of the device. If a GPS signal is not available, cellular devices can be located by using the local cell tower association. This is especially useful in finding devices that have gone indoors where the device can't get a GPS satellite lock.

With the Wavelink hosted map there are no additional license fees and information is not passed on to a third party. All that is required is Internet access from the computer using the Avalanche console.

Avalanche has always been a device management player beyond the four-walls of an enterprise. We designed Avalanche to work seamlessly across networks, whether they are on a controlled WLAN using Wi-Fi or over more diverse Wireless Wide Area Network (WWAN) connections including cellular networks.

Wavelink eLearning
